Hi, everyone! I hope you all had a good Labor Day weekend! It felt short but I savored every minute I could with my parents and sister for 3 days because I knew that bliss would be cut short by the start of the football season at the school were I work. There's been a scrimmage game already but they hosted their first home game last night and I was on campus until 3 a.m. due to the mess. It wasn't the biggest I've ever seen: I expect nightmarish turnouts for Homecoming or when they play a certain rival (where I used to work) but it was enough to make me collapse on the bed and not wake up until 2:30 p.m. today.

I've been home for about 3 hours and I feel like I'm still licking wounds from a punishing work day. It didn't start out that way. There was plenty to do and it went from manageable and risk-free and then halfway my boss shows up to assist in stripping wax off of a hallway for 7th graders and it turned nasty. I'll accept the blame that not all of the procedures of cleaning the doorways (when we stripped the classroom floors weeks ago) were followed, which complicated and prolonged the hallway stripping. My boss was just laying into me and a co-worker, all while we're feverishly trying to finish the hallway. While he was right, I just wish he'd fucking stopped earlier than he did. One of those days...

I'm at the final boss encounter in Ratchet & Clank and my attempts at beating Drek have been unsuccessful.

I hope everyone has had a decent July 4th weekend (those who live in the U.S.) and good tidings to members across the globe. I've pretty much used my 4 day weekend so far to sleep, eat, read, watch films and play games.

While I'm fighting off allergies on an otherwise nice Sunday afternoon, I'm attempting Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode on Borderlands 2 (Xbox 360) and I'm just getting my ass handed to me over and over. I'm not even out of the first area (Southern Shelf) and I'm trying to escort Claptrap to his ship and getting waylaid by enemies at every turn. I suppose I'll need friends or parties to progress from here on out.

I have this friend on my XBL account that I've known since I started my account back in fall of '07. That was not too long after my brother/roommate came home with an HDTV, an Xbox 360 and a copy of Halo 3. I spent the next 2 1/2 years off-and-on with Halo 3 multiplayer and met a lot of friends (and scores more of people that I hope get eaten by wolves). One guy in particular kept in touch with the next 2 entries in the franchise (ODST, Reach) but when 4 was released, he apparently was not impressed. He was so angry at the direction the franchise had taken under 343 Industries that his XBL profile has statements like "343 sucks" or "343 ruined Halo".

Hello, everyone. I hope everyone has had a good summer so far. Or at least a productive one. 

As of last week, I'm on day shift hours and it's been pretty sweet. The only thing is that I've been gettting allergies almost every day (either from these buildings or something in the air) and when I get home all I want to do is take some allergy medicine, lie on the sofa and dose off. It's been pretty busy this past week. My summer work mostly consists of moving furniture out of classrooms, stripping the wax off of the floors and putting down new wax, in addition to regular cleaning of key areas where staff is still showing up during the summer. Luckily I'm not doing all of that by my lonesome but it doesn't mean it's still not exhausting.

It's Memorial Day and whether you watch war film marathons on AMC, fire up the grill or just hang out with loved ones, we should always remember the sacifices made by our armed forces. I myself am having lunch with the widow of a WWII and Korean War veteran (like I did the previous year) and while there'll be little to no talk of his war experiences (something the man never talked about), I do cherish the friendship of this person and her late husband (he passed away a year ago).
