This week’s gaming included two long deathful sessions with Witcher III and Minecraft, then a crashing demo and a deathful indie game.

I played a bunch of stuff, chasing Microsoft Rewards points and playing one co-op game.

I got through the main campaign of Skylanders: Swap-Force the other day. This is now my second completed game of 2020. Of course, I’m not done with it yet.

This decade may have been about the rise of mobile and free-to-play gaming, but for Mark and I, it was about bigger and better versions of games we had been playing since the 90s: FPS’s with attitude, action RPGs and reckless racing. The only new type of game we played a lot this decade was Minecraft. Here’s a year-by-year breakdown of the games we played in co-op or just in tandem.  

I finished the last two episodes of Life is Strange 2 today and got a lot further in Skylanders Swap Force. I'm going down the games I have currently installed on Xbox and clearing stuff off the hard drive as I finish them. Swap Force just happened to be next in line. 

I played through episode 2 and 3 of this today. I'm honestly not a big fan of these TellTale style games because there's not a lot to do in them but watch and choose paths in the story, but I found myself moved by the end of episode 2 and torn by tough decisions in episode 3. It's really well done for what it is.

     I got the end credits in 16 games not from 2019. With the glut of games available for nothing (or almost nothing) these days, I’ve gotten very impatient. If something stops me in a game or annoys me too much, I just move on. So the ones I completed were either short or engaged me so well I was willing to push through the annoying bits.

These are the 20 games I played published this year. I only finished 3 of them but I enjoyed all of them in whatever time I had to give them. Here they are in chronological order. 

While waiting for Jedi Fallen Order to install I played through The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit. Then I played Jedi Fallen Order for a good long time and finally a few hours of DQXI to finish things off.
