You know, I always wanted to know what those pod-like things were in the Japanese arcades. Well now I know they are Panoramic Optical Displays or P.O.D. for short. Now one has come to the U.S., possibly coming to a Dave & Busters near you. It's called Star Wars Battle Pod and it's pretty cool. Watch the vid.

Started the day out with a breakfast burrito from my freezer. Then I went to my usual Starbucks and got a grande iced coffee with mocha and two rivet shakers from Philly Pretzel Factory right next door. Then I made my way to Mark's place to play video games and watch the football game.

This week I came up with a new way to select games to play. I pick a random genre on allgame.com using random.org to get a number from 1 to 15, and then sort the games by rating and look down the list until I see one I want to play. I generated an 8, which means the Racing genre and saw Diddy Kong Racing (DKR) for N64 near the top of the list. I have this game still in its box for N64 and haven't played it in ages. So I packed up my N64 and the game to take with me when I go to my friend Mark's place on Sunday.

I really played a lot of EDF 2025 today as the Air Raider. My friend Mark and I played co-op from where we left off yesterday to about level 30 on Hard before we started getting stuck on certain levels. For some reason the difficulty spikes a little bit after level 25 or so. I was under armored and lacking in really effective weapons anyway, so we returned to the beginning and started running through all the levels on Hardest difficulty basically to farm for weapons and armor. 

There were games galore to choose from. It was a good time to be a gamer with SNES and Genesis battling it out. Ones that made the first cut were: Wolverine [NES], Robin Hood Prince of Thieves [NES], Uncharted Waters [NES], Batman: Return of the Joker [NES], Road Rash [Genesis], Dark Castle [Genesis], Phantasy Star III [Genesis], Streets of Rage [Genesis], Warrior of Rome [Genesis], P.G.A. Tour Golf [Genesis], Ys III [Genesis], Final Fantasy II [SNES], Pilotwings [SNES], Twin Bee '91 [arcade], Duke Nukem [PC], and Secret of Monkey Island 2 [PC]. So many good ones here, but I had to revisit Dark Castle. It's lucky that I have a friend who can lend me his copy for this.

I started up an Air Raider class today in EDF 2025 after I finished my retro games and called in an Howitzer attack on some ants.  It was very impressive and annihilated a whole city block. Then I spent a lot of time toolling around in a tank. It made me nigh invulnerable to spider webbing. I like that!

A big year for NES. Here's what made the first cut of probably two score games: Final Fantasy [NES], Maniac Mansion [NES], Dragon Warrior II [NES], Pinball Quest [NES], River City Ransom [NES], Sword of Vermillion [Genesis], Batman The Video Game [Genesis], Fire Shark [Genesis], Fist of the North Star: 10 Big Brawls [GB], Secret of Monkey Island [PC], Panzer Battles [PC], Wizardry: Bane of the Cosmic Forge [PC], and Commander Keen [PC]. My first choice was Wizardry: BotCF, and it's available on Steam, but I'm allergic to PCs, so I went with a game I had in my collection and haven't played yet, Pinball Quest on NES. That went too quickly so I added Secret of Monkey Island because the Special Edition trial has been sitting on my Xbox for years now.
