I started the day with Kirby's Dream Land for Game Boy. I played it on the big screen via Kirby's Dream Collection for Wii. This is a really good platformer. I really liked swallowing things and then spitting them out. You can swallow enemies to knock out other enemies and you can swallow objects that do special things when you spit them out; for example, a bomb will explode everything in it's path and a microphone will knock out everything in a room. You can even suck air to puff up like a balloon and then fly by flapping your arms. You can swim too, but you can't swallow stuff while submerged. I got into Stage 4: Bubbly Clouds when I stopped. I kept going off the clouds and getting killed. Stupid me. I'll be back to it though. Great game!

I'm pretty sure I saw Batman Returns and Wayne's World that year in the theaters. Later I saw movies like Clint Eastwood's western The Unforgiven, Robert Rodrigez's El Mariachi, Ralph Bakshi's Cool World, and possibly Bram Stoker's Dracula staring Gary Oldman.

I don't remember reading anything much in '92. Much later I read Neal Stephenson's Snowcrash. What I'd like to read now from this year are the following:

I may have played Wolfenstien 3D back in '92. I'm not sure. If not in '92 I did soon after with my friend Mark on some old Pentium 75 PCs we got from somewhere. I had no money then, so we must've gotten them free from someplace. In any case, that was the only game I played around that time.

Turns out I remembered wrong in my 1991 blog. I was still in New York in 1992, but that summer, I returned to live in Pennsylvania. I had a few credits remaining to finish the college I had left early in '90, and took them at a school in my hometown. I took pottery in the first semester and was told I should stick with it. I still remember the homage I did to Dante's Divine Comedy: a maw swallowing many small human figures. I still have one piece I did, a rendition of the American Indian style meeting house (I forget the exact name for it) we had at the summer camp I went to in my teens.

I was going to play Sid Meier's Civlization Revolution today but I had to wait for the download, so I tried to find someone online to play Ticket To Ride. I waited a while in Quick Match hoping someone would pop up, but no one did, so I jumped back in my Minecraft game from yesterday. Well, that got pretty obsessive, and, after a while, Mark joined my game and then things got really crazy. I never did get back to Civ Rev.

Got a very late start. Felt like crap. Went to Mark's. Played a few games that knocked me around a bit. Had to break for a family dinner. Came back and was in no mood to be challenged or fight for my life in a game, so I turned to some low key board and building sim games the rest of the night. 

Thought I'd share the playlist I'm listening to this week. This is everything I could find in my collection and which I bought this week. I'm having a lot of fun listening to all this stuff in shuffle mode. It gets me through my last hour of work every night and it's a blast. 

I just finished volume 3 of the original TMNT and found this Abadox game ad under the front cover. Abadox is a 1990 side-scrolling shoot 'em up like a Gradius for the NES. You have to shoot your way through the digestive track of an alien organism. I'm going to have to add it to my list. See pic below:

1991 seems to be the real start of the '90s the way I see it. I heard Blues Traveler, Metallica, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Spin Doctors all over the radio (As soon as I listened to my playlist tonight, I was immediately brought back to the 90s and everything I did in those years). The SNES came out and the war between Sega and Nintendo began; although, i wasn't gaming at all and wasn't aware of it. The only movie I saw in the theater that year was Woody Allen's Shadow's and Fog. I don't remember anything about it, but I do remember the theater I went to see it in New York. It was a trying year for me that ended in me returning to my hometown. Below I've listed some media I'd like to visit, or in some cases revisit, this week.
