The ArmA 2 mod is almost ready to stretch its wings.

If you follow the PC mod community closely, or listen to a good number of video game podcasts, you’ve most likely heard all about Day Z by now. The punishingly hardcore zombie apocalypse simulator is a mod for the hyper realistic military shooter ArmA 2, and has helped the formerly modest-selling European developed game multiply its sales. The mod has been so successful that Day Z creator Dean Hall would love to turn the game into its own entity.

During the past few months it feels like nearly every legendary game designer of the ‘80s and ‘90s has come out of the woodwork with a Kickstarter to either create a new game or a remake of one of their classics. One of the more high profile games to get funded was inXile’s Wasteland 2. Wasteland was a game that captured the hearts and minds of many PC gamers in the late ‘80s, but for a vast majority of current players it’s not a known quantity.
