Link and Penny Arcade Join Forces

In an act of ultimate fan service, Link gets his own limited web comic.

Link has been in the spotlight quite a bit this year.  His franchise, one of the most popular of all time, is celebrating 25 years.  To celebrate this prestigious milestone Nintendo has given 3DS and DSi owners Four Swords for free, promoted a touring orchestral concert series featuring music from the beloved franchise and will be capped off with the release of Skyward Sword in less than a week.  We can now add web comic to that list.

In the latest attack from hackers, MyResistance.net is taken down due to the site serving up malware.

Insomniac Games has taken down the official site for the Resistance franchise for maintenance after an alleged hacker attack resulted in the distribution of malware to visitors. Dead Island DLC Shuffles Online Next Week

After bug fixing delays, Dead Island's first dose of DLC finally arrives.

Dead Island didn’t have what you’d call an ideal launch.  The game was released with some significant bugs that hampered some gamers’ ability to progress, especially on the PC, which in turn resulted in Techland delaying the first planned dose of DLC as they elected to spend the time smoothing out the game’s many issues.  After the release of last week’s patch it seems that Dead Island may finally be getting on track as further evidenced by the announcement that the delayed DLC will be going live next week.

Dead Island Review

This game craves brains because it clearly has none.

Dead Island is a game in the midst of an identity crisis.  It’s not sure if it wants to be Dead Rising 2 with its customizable weapons and biting humor, Left 4 Dead with its multiplayer focused gameplay, or Borderlands with its RPG elements and zombies that bleed numbers.  Dead Island wants to be all of these things and in trying to do so fails to do anything well, the result of which is an overly flawed experience that just months ago looked so promising.

Assassin's Creed Revelations Review

An unfortunate misstep that won't soon be forgotten.

Out of every game I’ve played this year, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations is without a doubt the biggest disappointment. For a series whose name automatically garners praise and adoration from the gaming community, this title is a blemish on its reputation. All of the passion and soul created by carefully weaving the ongoing plotline into evolving gameplay feels abandoned with Revelations. Without it, all that’s left is a game with a convoluted story and gameplay that is practically identical to Brotherhood.

Super Street Fighter II Coming to Virtual Console with Online Play

Though the game has seen release elsewhere in HD, Nintendo's barren Virtual Console landscape is getting a notable addition.

Wii fans holding out for a new Virtual Console addition hopefully won't have to wait much longer. Capcom is currently working on preparing the Genesis/Mega Drive version of Super Street Fighter II for release on the platform. Despite being released remastered in HD on XBLA and PSN, the game is still due to hit the Wii to capture the rest of the market in its original form - well, mostly. Online play is being integrated into the experience, allowing both US and EU gamers to go online with this well-regarded classic.
