The Olympic Games - minus the athletes you care about and the skill.
The Olympics has been a tradition around the world for generations. This year, the Olympics were held in London, England where it earned the achievement of being the most viewed Olympics of all-time. The idea of being able to compete against other athletes from around the world to determine the best of each sport has been a driving force for many athletes their entire life. Residents of those countries cheer on their representative athletes in hopes that they finish with the most medals and reign supreme. This year, Sega had the honor of virtually representing these games as London '12, giving players a chance to compete for their country against friends and online users alike in a variety of games and events. Unfortunately, rapid button-pressing with a lack of emphasis on skill isn't representative of this notable and important worldwide sporting event.

Producer of both Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, Kenji Kaido, announced today via Twitter that he is no longer with Sony. He also is remaining tight lipped about what he is doing next - outside of enjoying his summer vacation, that is. This is one more big shift for Team Ico who is struggling to get The Last Guardian out the door.

Guillaume Brunier (Senior Producer) educates us on survival in the world of ZombiU.
We were violent before we played video games.
We may have missed an episode, but we’re making it up to you this week with a bonus episode that gets us back on track. Even though we only recorded a week ago we have some games to talk about, including Sleeping Dogs, Final Fantasy VII PC, and Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance.
Joaquim hops in the hot seat this week as Chessa takes the night off.
After last week's brief discussion of New Super Mario Bros. 2, Jason has quite a bit more to add after picking up the game at retail. Nick delves into Papo & Yo and Joaquim talks Pro Evolution Soccer. What we've been playing gives way to a bit of news discussion, focused mainly around the ABC bankruptcy of OnLive and its prompt segue to a new investor. Finally, we wrap the show with a bit of Mario-related trivia in honor of the release of New Super Mario Bros. 2 and the early discussions of the episode. Tune in and enjoy!
Mario’s 16-bit debut serves as an introduction to Nintendo’s most legendary console and fleeting farewell to 2-D Mario platforming. And Yoshi.
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the 90s. In this era we saw many things; we saw the true start of the (in)famous 16-bit console wars, the slow decline of arcades, the invention of CD-ROM media and the start of a tradition with mainline Mario titles. Thought it was nice the NES had three great Mario games? You are not going to see that again for a very long time. Make that nineteen years to be exact. Take a good long look over this fourth Mario Mania entry, because the 2-D Mario platforming ship is sailing and it feels like a bittersweet moment.
