Mario Kart 3DS Coming Holiday 2011

The game will see a host of new features.

Nintendo announced during their press conference today that Mario Kart 3DS will be making its way to stores this holiday season. The game will see some new features, like gliders, underwater tracks complete with propeller carts, and tire choices for different handling. Nothing more of the game was announced, but it appears to be a slight departure from past entries in the series.

Zelda News Announced at Nintendo Press Conference

Miyamoto reveals the news during the Nintendo press conference.

Today, Nintendo announced a few items of Zelda news, the most exciting of which is a freebie, four player version of The Legend of Zelda Four Swords for the DSi. The game will be available, again, for free, this September. It was also announced that Link's Awakening will be available by day's end around the world on the 3DS eShop.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 Hands On Preview

The direct follow-up to Final Fantasy XIII also made an appearance at the Sony press conference.

We all know that Final Fantasy XIII was more of a linear experience - a trait that many long time fans of the series took issue with. While the game offered amazing graphics and a unique approach to the traditional RPG gameplay, for many it still left something to be desired. It was clear based on the brief demo I played, that XIII-2 would not follow that same linear structure. The world I encountered when I finally got to play the game was much more open, and perhaps contained more possibilities. I can't stress enough how much of an improvement this will be over the previous title if it manages to offer the same gameplay throughout the entire quest.

Sony Confirms PlayStation Vita Name For NGP

The system will be offered in two versions, WiFi and 3G, with AT&T being the exclusive carrier for the device.

During Sony's press conference, the NGP was officially renamed to the PlayStation Vita. According to Kaz Hirai, the system will be offered in two distinct versions, WiFi and 3G. The 3G version of the system will be exclusively carried by AT&T in North America.
