Bungie.net Halo Services Ending on March 31

Bungie's passing the torch to 343 Industries

Bungie doesn't make Halo games anymore, but they have still maintained the game stats and player service records for the Halo games thus far. Well, that will change on March 31, because Bungie issued a statement today saying that all live data will now be handled by 343 Industries.

The Simpsons Arcade Game and Final Fantasy V will be Free to PS Plus Subscribers

Earlier, Xbox360Achievements.org showed a list of achievements for an XBLA version of The Simpsons Arcade game.  Since then PlayStationBlog.com has published an official release revealing that both it and Final Fantasy V will be free for PS Plus subscribers in February.

Paul McCartney Writing Music For Video Game

Macca told a Germany interviewer his work on a game project.

Sir Paul McCartney is known for such classic hit songs as "Hey Jude", "My Love" and "No More Lonely Nights", as well as being a member of Wings and, of course, The Beatles. The legendary recording artist has now told an interviewer for Germany's Die Zeit that he is working on music for a video game. And no, its not The Beatles: Rock Band 2.

Resident Evil: Revelations Hands On Preview

Showing what the 3DS is capable of.

Resident Evil Revelations is shaping up to be one of the richest titles in the series. It's hard to believe that such a feature packed game could be found on a portable system. If the overall tone of the demo is any indicator, Revelations is on track to be just as important as any of the console entries in the series.

The PSN Boss Has Left the Building

Susan Panico will no longer lead the Playstation Network in North America.

The head of the Playstation Network is no longer a part of Sony Computer Entertainment of America (SCEA). Susan Panico became a part of the company in 1994, and was promoted to Senior Director of Playstation Network in February 2007.

Monster Hunter Vita Coming This Year?

Could Monster Hunter be just what the Vita needs?

It’s hard to say that the Japanese PlayStation Vita launch has been a resounding success.  Slow sales have many gamers proclaiming the handheld’s demise even before it is launched in North America and Europe next month.  Even with near abysmal sales, PlayStation France CEO Philippe Cardon doesn’t believe there is anything to worry about, saying that the Japanese launch only lacked a special something that will be coming later this year: Monster Hunter.

Capcom Announces Gyakuten Saiban 5

Also known as Ace Attorney 5.

Believe it or not, the Ace Attorney series has just turned 10 in Japan. To celebrate the anniversary, Capcom held an event in Japan where they announced their plans to produce the fifth mainline entry in the series. The company offered no information about the game, simply the logo and that production has begun. Platform, international release, and protagonist are all currently unknown.

Scarygirl Review

Is she supposed to be scary because she looks like a ragdoll dressed as a pirate?

Video games are art. Many people, including myself, stand by this philosophy and when asked for an example, many of us will point to recently made indie titles like Flower, Braid, and Bastion. All of these titles are part of a renaissance of old school design that are making a comeback on the downloadable front. These highly stylized yet minimalistic games are supposed to represent video games in their purest form. At first glance, ScaryGirl looks like another great title in this tradition, but instead you get something more akin to Tim Burton presents Earthworm Jim watching Invader Zim.
