Harry Potter Gets a Special PS3 Bundle

Accio PlayStation 3!

Harry Potter fans worldwide got to bid a fond farewell to the cast of the wildly successful film adaptations of J.K. Rowling’s books this past summer, and Sony is going to send the Hogwarts students off in style this holiday season. That comes thanks to a special PlayStation 3 system bundle filled with all sorts of wizarding goodness.

So what’s in the Deathly Hallows themed box? Well, you’ll get the 3D blu-ray of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt. 2, a voucher to  download the first two Harry Potter movies, as well as a 30 day trial of PlayStation Plus. Oh, and the PlayStation 3, obviously. A 160 GB PS3, to be exact. I mean, it would be a little daft having a PS3 bundle with no PS3 inside, wouldn’t it?

The bundle retails for 249.99 and is out now. Sadly, the bundle doesn’t come with any Bertie Botts Every Flavor Jelly Beans or chocolate frogs. You’ll have to supply your own.

This is an odd bundle. Sony has done media bundles before (Spider-Man 3 with the PS3, for example), but you would figure that throwing in Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4 would make more sense than the voucher for the first two movies.

It was 8 years ago that Metroid Prime 4 was originally announced and its development was more than a little turbulent. Initially developed by Bandai Namco, it was later scrapped completely and development was shifted back to Retro Studios to start the project over. In the end, Retro has delivered a solid new entry in the series, but one that doesn’t totally capture what originally made the series so compelling.
