Street Fighter x Tekken Gets a Limited Edition and a Release Date

This time, it's all about the gems, baby.

The New York City Comic Con has been a veritable treasure trove of gaming news, and especially for fans of Capcom fighting games. In addition to the new trailer for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, there was plenty of talk about Street Fighter x Tekken, as well as yet another fighting system trailer.

Street Fighter x Tekken will be released March 6, 2012 in North America and March 9 in Europe. Capcom has been releasing most of their fighting games around this time, and it has helped their games find an audience away from the hectic holiday season. In addition to the release date, details on the Limited Edition of the game were announced. You’ll get a prequel comic by UDON, the people behind the very popular Street Fighter comic series from the past 5 years or so. You’ll also get 36 in-game gems, which includes all of the various retailer-specific pre-order bonuses and an exclusive set of gems. If you pre-order the Limited Edition you will also get an additional nine gems. There is also a build it yourself arcade cabinet bank. Oh, and the game comes in the package, too.

As an added bit of Capcom fighting news, the previously announced free update to Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition, called Version 2012, will be released on December 13. That’s a perfect time to get lapsed Street Fighters back into the swing of things before the Capcom and Namco clash of champions commences.
