Game Crazy Locations Slated for October Closings
200 Game Crazy locations will close by the end of the month, but attached Hollywood Videos will remain open.
A source told Joystiq that Game Crazy will be shutting the doors of 200 of its locations by the end of the October. Overall, there are around 680 Game Crazies across the nation. Hollywood Videos that are attached to the condemned Game Crazies will remain open, however.
Game Crazy officially stated: "Movie Gallery, Inc. is currently operating in an unprecedented consumer/retail environment. In order for us to continue to best serve our millions of customers across North America we're addressing underperforming stores and ensuring that there is sufficient [return on investment] associated with each of these stores going forward. The vast majority of our stores will be unaffected by these efforts."
JoyStiq urges readers to check on the status of pre-orders at their local Game Crazies and is currently working on a list of closing stores.
