I think the opening song for Muppets Treasure Island is my favorite pirate song as far as I can remember.
Of these, I think "Jib Jig" is my favorite, which is also nostalgic.

I read about the pine tar thing on my phone as well. He said it was just dirt, apparently.

So just out of curiosity, did you know what happened at the end before you beat it? I'm guessing yes, because I've found spoilers for the game unavoidable, and I've never played it, nor am I a mark for JRPGs.
