Kirby music is awesome! Some really great ones also come from Kirby Air Ride, and some even sound orchestrated!
I never could get into EarthBound, which is surprising. I felt the battle system was too antiquated and the storyline was so nonsensical that it was hard to follow and goals were unclear as a result. The game was packaged with a strategy guide in the US for that reason, I think. I'd be more excited about Shantae on 3DS VC, myself.
The old 2-D Metal Gear games are the ones I'm most familiar with.
Drippy (Ni no Kuni)
Polterpup (Luigi's Mansion)
Blathers the Owl (Animal Crossing: New Leaf)
Toki Tori (Toki Tori 2)
Ulala (Project X-Zone)

I missed out playing this one. I hardly ever bought NES games back then, only rented them, because I was just a kid with a very limited income. And either this wasn't available at the PayLess Video near my house, or it was always rented out.
It's just pretty challenging and goals can be unclear most of the time.
EarthBound isn't a very good RPG for novices. The last boss is just weird, not scary.
Lots of good memories playing this game with my little brother Jeff. We sitll joke that when he was little, if I accidentally took the pizza, he'd whine, "Mooooommm! Cary took the pizza!" Granted he was really young when he did that!
