The sweeping vistas in the trailer made it look like Tales of Xenoblade, am I right?
I actually commented on the last episode and then realized after posting that I was two days late. Story of my life! It's a shame, too, because I voted for Until Dawn. Oh well, my fault.
Stage Select: I was looking at that picture up there and is Justin really that bald, bearded, and bespectacled? What GBA game do you really need to play right now, and why is it Astro Boy: Omega Factor? Would you rather have a hilarious game night with Tina Fey or Amy Poehler? Can Booky give us odds on whether or not he is Justin?
Cage Match: I never got into a Tony Hawk game (though I suppose the SSX series would be a tangential relation and those were great), so I gotta give it to Goldeneye. I never beat the campaign but was a master at that opening dam level and finish that on any difficulty. I loved using proximity mines in multiplayer and turning the levels into death traps. Also, for the overly serious take on the cage match, Tony Hawk would be grinding on the bars of the cage and then Bond would just shoot him.
Future Bookings:
-Gradius 3 vs Space Invaders
-Contra 3 vs Halo 3
-Sonic vs F-Zero
The other casualty of the month was sleep
Yes! Life is the worst sometimes
I was hoping to finish up or at least make good progress in Yakuza Kiwami 2 in May to free myself up for Bloodstained this month, but I think I played Kiwami 2 only once the whole month.
I've gotten to the point where I won't "buy" a PS+ game if it doesn't interest me, but I still never touch 90% of these games. All the same, it is annoying to miss out.
You would be right! But I bought Overcooked last year and played a bunch of it with my wife (though we did eventually reach the point where we couldn't quite get enough stars to continue). That game is definitely a ton of fun. So I just missed out on the other one...and I don't remember what it was lol
Stage Select: I have to go with the Super Nintendo. It was the video game cornerstone of my childhood. Final Fantasy VI (probably the most influential game of my formative years), Contra 3, Super Metroid, TMNT IV, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario World. I could go on and on. The hardware was powerful enough that the games could look and sound amazing. 2D games eventually did get better from a technical perspective but it took a while thanks to the advent of 3D games. The SNES was the general highwater mark for a long time. Second place, for me, is probably the GameCube, which served me well through high school and played host to my all-time favorite game: Metroid Prime. But you can't beat that childhood nostalgia.
Cage Match: I think I would like Asura's Wrath if I played it...but I HAVE played Until Dawn and really enjoyed that, so that is what I'm going with.
Cage Match possibilities:
-Gradius 3 vs Space Invaders
-Contra 3 vs Halo 3
-Sonic vs F-Zero
Your third paragraph would sound really cheesy if it was about any other game, but Super Mario Galaxy was such an undiluted distillation of joy. So few games achieve that. It was my favorite game of that generation.
