Pick-ups Backlog #3: Time Quackers

Posted on 06/12/2016 at 07:51 PM | Filed Under Blogs

Pretty reasonable for most things. Bull Moose Music has a set price for games based on systems that are older than the PS2/GC/Xbox era. They're all under $10. PS2, GC, and Xbox are varied, according to rarity, I think, but I've never seen one priced higher than $25. The other stores vary, and I think their pricing may be competitive with various internet sites. I did once come across an unopened, mint condition copy of Dragon Warrior for way too much money for my bank account (it was over $100, I draw the line at $80).

My problem is that I love all these long-ass JRPGs that take a million years to play through. My first and only system until a year or two after the PS2 came out was a Sega Genesis. The Christmas that my other half's little brother got a PS2 and gave us the ancient hand-me-down original Playstation that had been middle brother Matt's was the beginning of the end: within 18 months I'd acquired a PS2, an Xbox, a GBA SP, and a Game Cube to go along with it and was grabbing up games that had been out for a long time. So I'm essentially still playing catch-up.

I got to that battle, got my ass kicked too many times to count, and rage quit. Someday I will go back, but not until the memory smarts less.

I keep trying to do things like that. It never really works, I always end up with more games than I have shelving.

I justify mine as never having to worry about another video game crash ever again.

The initial piglet rescue turned out well, until she smooshed them later. According to my intern, who is renting a room from my friends for the summer, Stella was down to four piglets out of eleven. Not very good numbers.

I love Pikmin! Still looking for a reasonably-priced copy of Pikmin 2 for the Game Cube.

Cary's Favorite Mech Games

I love your love of quirky, cute games. I'll have to keep my eyes open for some of these games. I have Rocket Slime, and usually recommend it to non-gamer parents with kids. I lobed it, and so did my nephew when he was a little kid.

Steambot Chronicles was a game I wondered about. Now I'll have to actively look for it, sounds like something I'd love.

The Xenosaga series and Zone of the Enders are probably my favorite mech games.
