I didn't get to play this until years later like you and thought it held up great. Not my favorite platformer, but probably my favorite collectathon one. Interested what you have to say about 2 and 3.
Couldn't agree more. Was also lacking in boss battles, I was expecting so many awesome giant monsters to fight, but barely got any.
Dark Souls and not much else.
I'm mostly in favor of that last point, would love to see it become a cashback reward system. Maybe give you better deals if you want less specific stuff, but still, options. Also think they should full out do it on every 3rd party game, especially if they release a system graphically on par with the PS4/Xbone. The Nintendo version would be an easier sell if I got something back for it, especially if the game had no online.
Actually, as I pointed out, Rare was making a Banjo game from the start, the cars were only implemented when they thought the levels were too big then decided to focus on them instead.
Pokemon. There's no MP game deeper than that IMO
It's nonlinear in the ways that matter. Combat offers a wealth of different options while the bits between it reward exploration and going off the path
