Well I must've read that review before since I commented on it, but in my defense, that was three years ago. I don't even remember what I reviewed three years ago. Good job on the review regardless, though. :) Thanks for the link.
Yeah I didn't like the linearity of this game as much, but there were some cool ideas and fun enemies to fight, so it still was pretty fun. Not my favorite Metroid, but I still enjoyed it.
Ys: Memories of Celceta's not a bad game at all, it's just not near as good as Ys Seven, I think.
Well I really liked Ys Seven anyway, so it's a good pick. Also, if you have a 3DS, I recommend Pocket Card Jockey, and Kirby Planet Robobot comes out this week.
You know what's strange is that Oath in Felghana didn't draw me in like Ys Seven did. I think it was just a timing thing, though. You know how sometimes you can't get into a game as well because of other things in life? I think that's what happened here. I just enjoyed Ys Seven more for some reason.
Yeah I didn't realize Ys would be such a hot topic! By the way, I read that Falcom announced that Ys 8 will be coming to the PS4, Vita, and PC in 2016 in Japan. I hope XSEED brings that over here, too!
All you need now is the Ys 1 and 2 remake on PSP and you'll have all the PSP Ys games brought to the US! Unless you want to get Falcom's Gurumin, as there is a secret boss that makes references to Ys. Gurumin is a fun game regardless, you should check it out if you can.
I'll drop some knowledge, too, but you have to pick it up. :) Ys: The Oath in Felghana is actually a retelling of Ys 3: Wanderers from Ys. Except on the PSP it's done in a top down fashion, while the original game was 2-D sidescrolling, so it was kind of the odd duck in the Ys series. Ys was brought over to the SNES early in its lifecycle. I would've liked to have tried it, but I never got a chance to. I hear it's not very good, though. Oh well.
Hey I didn't know that either! Makes sense now when you look at the subtitles. Ys 4 is an odd bird because there were two totally different versions of the same game! It would be interesting to check out Ys 4 and see how different it is from Memories of Celceta.
