Dexter's Lab: Robot Rampage, D.I. 3.0, and Peggle

Posted on 06/13/2016 at 11:03 AM | Filed Under Blogs

Yeah the company who made that Dexter's Lab game, Bam! Entertainment, they did that with a lot of Taito games on the GBC, just reskinned them to have Hanna-Barbera characters.  In fact, many of them said "Powered by Taito" or whatever game they were trying to imitate.  I remember another one was Yogi Bear's Balloon Blast, which was a retoolled version of Pop N Pop.  I wish they would've kept it like the old Taito games.  Needless to say, i never liked Bam! Entertainment and they went out of business soon after.  At least it wasn't as bad as The Flintstones: Burgertime in Bedrock.

Wasn't there a Silpheed remake on the PS2?

Kirby Amiibo Set

Oh you know I got the Kirby amiibo figures!  And the Isabelle Summer Outfit amiibo, too!  As well as Kirby: Planet Robobot.  I'll have pictures at the GamerDad.com site later on.  I have to say that I think I like the Smash King Dedede amiibo a little better.

Didn't SEGA have a mech fighter like Tech Romancer around that time?  Problem with a lot of those games is they're not silly and whimsical enough for me. :)

Oh I remember the storylne to Tail Concerto very well.  It's pretty much a ripoff of Miyazaki films from the 80's.  Mainly Nausicaa and Castle in the Sky.  Still a charming game, though.

Well I like to think of Rocket Slime as a cross between Mario 2 (because you can pick up stuff), and Zelda.  If you still have it, try it again!  I know you can figure it out.

Yeah, most old mech games were just fancy tank simulators.  There was one BattleTank game on the SNES that was made by David Crane (creator of Pitfill).  That's all I know!

Like I said, games like Steambot Chronicles and Tail Concerto are hard to find, I hear.  But if you do find them, let me know, and I hope you get to play them!

Pikmin 3 for Me

I played the first Pikmin game and a bit of the second one and didn't really like them, so I never bothered with the third one.

Pick-ups Backlog #3: Time Quackers

I can't remember which one, but one of the home version Time Crisis games has mini-games based on other Namco arcade gun shooters.  One is Shoot Away, which is very old, and the other is Quick & Crash, which is a newer game where you had to shoot targets and break a real mug!  I wonder how they got that to work?

I love the DuckTales game.  It's pretty easy to beat.  I beat it tons of times as a kid, so I know you'll be able to beat it, too!

Did you know that Alan Young, the voice of Scrooge McDuck, passed away recently? :(
