Well it looks like my time with Odyssey is finished

Huh, that is unusual.  When I revisited the Lost Kingdom, I didn't see that bird at all.  If you can't find a solution on the Internet, my suggestion would be to write Nintendo a VERY DETAILED email to their customer service department about what you are experiencing.  In my 30 plus years of dealing with Nintendo's customer service, they've always been very helpful.  Even if they can't help you right away, your email may help them pinpoint a bug that they can then fix with a possible update patch.  I think this actually happened with one of their recent 3-D Zelda games.

Worse case scenario, if you have to start the game over again, it shouldn't take you too long to get back to where you were.  I was able to beat the main game in less than a week.  And that's playing rather casually, too.  For me, Odyssey was one of the easiest 3-D Mario titles to beat since Super Mario 3-D Land.  And after beating the game, the post game rewards are well worth it, especially if you're a Mario 64 fan.  I'd even say the game doesn't really even start until after you beat it.

Some of my favorite 2-D shooters include 1943, the Darius series, Metal Black, Gradius series, Parodius series, and Ordyne.

10 Years Later: Captain N's thoughts on: Super Mario Galaxy

The Galaxy games were fantastic.  And they still look great, which is amazing since when I go back and play most Wii games, they look like crap.  The first Galaxy game was my Game of the Year back in 2007.  I kind of wished I would've given that award to Portal now, but back then I didn't want to pay full price for The Orange Box.  So that's how Galaxy won.

The Return Of The 360

I really liked Nuts & Bolts.  Would I have rather had a more traditional Banjo-Kazooie game?  Well, yeah.  But what we got was pretty cool.  The building mechianic was brilliant and you could do so much with it.  I think that was my most played game on the 360.

OMG Mario!

I like the 2-D 8-bit parts.

So far this is my favorite piece of music.  The 8-bit version of it even has a bit of a Mega Man tinge.

Believe it or not, I actually didn't like the PowerPuff Girls movie that much.  Thanks for reading!

Some Old Xbox Games and Etrian Odyssey V

The only BloodRayne game I've played is a 2-D one WayForward made a while back called BloodRayne Betrayal.  I actually liked it, which is strange because I hate vampires.  So gross!

Super Mario Odyssey: Day One Opinion

I got to play it for an hour and a half before going to work.  I like the 2-D 8-bit parts.

Death of Single Player

Congrats!  I'm playing lots of single player games right now.

October Mini Reviews: South Park*PS4* & Shantae*Switch*

I really like Shantae: Half Genie Hero, but I was also disappointed with it because it's more straightforward than the other Shantae games are.  The other ones play more Metroid-like than this one.  This one made me think more of Mega Man for some reason.  But that got me to thinking that I would love it if Capcom would let WayForward make a Mega Man game!
