BaD #9 - And they said video games would never help me in life!

We just add the bag fee onto the grocery bill. It's not a separate charge. And we have a big sign at the entrance telling people about the fee, along with several signs in the parking lot reminding people to bring in their reusable bags. Most people are cool with it, but one woman freaked out on me and stated loudly that she would NEVER shop at our establishment again because we charged her for the bag and wouldn't give her the nickel back if she brought the bag back. The customer in line behind her told her not to let the door hit her in the butt on the way out. I almost lost it then and there.

Some of my customers do bag their own groceries. It makes me cringe because they usually don't do as good a job as I would have (egg carton packed in sideways! that one drives me nuts!)

Yeah, there's a certain amount of pride and accomplishment when you manage to get 'em all in the one bag the customer brought that they didn't think would be big enough.

We allow paper, but not plastic. We charge for the paper bags, though.

I Hate Metal Slimes

There's a reason they named him Charmles (read it as Charm-less). And I LOVE metal slimes! Once you get metal slash, it gets much easier.

I woke Jason up on more than one occasion yelling "come back and fight, you little bastards!" at the metal slimes when they'd run away.

With two of us shoveling, we managed to get my car out of the four foot high snowdrift it was buried in and I made it to work, unlike almost every one else in my department on my shift!

I have a Subaru, the second most popular vehicle in Maine after the Ford F-150. Best vehicle I've ever driven in snow and ice. That said, I still don't want to have to drive to work today.

Nah, you can keep that weather. Call me crazy, but I like winter. Just not all in one weekend, lol.

The thing with snowshoe racing is that conditions are highly variable by the hour, You could run the same course two days in a row, and have completely different conditions, which result in completely different times. Two years ago, we'd just had 18 inches of powder dumped on us, and it was too cold for the snow to compact. And the race director had to change the race to the day before at the last minute to avoid a blizzard that was coming in on the original day of the race. Conditions were miserable, I fell at the beginning of the race and wrenched both my knee and my ankle, and I was the last person to finish by a significant margin. And it was cold and the temp dropped like a rock the whole time we were out there. This year, we had a bunch of snow just before the race, but it covered the bare patches and packed nicely, and the temp was in the high teens. A little colder than what we've gotten used to this winter, so I didn't have time to properly acclimate, but not too bad, and I was never cold during the race. And I follow what I call the Jerry Strategy, named after a guy named Jerry who runs these races. Jerry turned 80 yesterday, by the way. Jerry told me to walk the ups, run the downs, and do what seems like the right thing on the in-betweens. I may not finish fast, but I finish, and that's all I care about.
