Sorry to hear about Bandit. Lost my dog a little over a year ago, still miss the guy.

To me, the PS1 was all about Crash Bandicoot. I didn't have my own PS1, but I went to a family friend's house every day before school while my mom went to work and the Naughty Dog trilogy were by far my favorite games there. I loved those games and when I got my own PSP, I was pleasantly surprised by how well 2 and Warped held up.
I think I've mentioned it in a blog of yours before, but the Ratchet and Clank upgrade system. Upgrading weapons just by using them is so addicting and fun.
Well in their defense $60 for three 30+ hour but buggy games if the bugs are fixed is a pretty good deal. But it is EA and they're good at fucking things up
Glad you're enjoying Mario and Metroid, both those games are fantastic, especially Mario. As for Wii recommendations, Xenoblade is a fun RPG, Sin and Punishment Star Successor might be the best rails shooter out there (but use a mouse for it- trust me on that one), both Kirby games are perfect whenyou want something lighthearted, especially if you want something to play with Bilby.
Also the original Ace Attorney games are on WiiWare and are fantastic.
They strongly hinted today that ME remastered is coming to PS4/XB1 so that may be fixed soon. But yeah, fuck them. It's especially bad that characters can die depending on whether you do it.
I have it on Wii and it does. It's not terribly deep for a fighting game, but enough that the game's enormous story mode will stay fun to the end. Also Budokai tournaments are a blast if you have people over.
I'd say DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 2. Still the perfect DBZ game in my mind.
Actually, the Sword in the Stone was originally in the stone, Arthur had two swords and Excalibur was the one he found in the lake. Also in close quarters what I do is simple
Stage Select
As much as I'd like to put Bioware here and put suggestions to incorporate the best of their old and new design, my pick would be WB Games for one reason: DC Interactive Universe. Let Arkham or Telltale Batman be the starting point, Green Lantern action game made by Platinum, open world Flash and Shazam games by the Shadow of Mordor and Just Cause guys respectively, Justice League and Teen Titans RPGs games made by Obsidian, Superman game with Majora's Mask repeating time mechanic until you save everyone, smaller indie games for smaller heroes.
Chrono Crossing
Favorite of 2008 is Fallout 3. I got really sucked into the lore of the Capital Wasteland, found leveling up my character very satisfying, and the game had an amazing sense of discovery when you would find a new area, especially a vault.
Also, Patrick is nuts calling Uncharted 2 MP the best 3rd person shooter MP a year after Gears of War 2.
I guess I could try it if no one else wants one.
