Bicycle... BICYCLE!!!

Actually, I think the team behind Xeno helped Nintendo with Zeldas open world. They did amazing job w/ Wii game, and WiiU is super pretty. I've posted screencaps before. Although Xeno1 is more story driven, while Xeno2 is more open world go-at-your-own-pace kind of like FF15. I will wait until Christmas to get Switch, that way there will be more games, unless I cave and get it on my cakeday in July. I don't want the device to sit there for a year collecting dust.

Deadly Premonition is more story and characters if you ever watch Twin Peaks TV show, its basically a remake which is why people liked it. Its controls are very clunky, and you have to drive everywhere like GTA, but it's such an odd game it stands out to me.

Wow! You sure are busy writing again!

So did it just take a really good game like Zelda to break your gaming lull, or a break from gaming in general? I remember this happening to me a year or two ago and I ended up just trying different game genres and replaying favorites TV, Movies, Books, Comics. I've played a lot of the games on your list, so I approve.
I'd probably add to mine  Links Awakening, Majoras Mask, Deadly Premonition, Resident Evil Remake/RE4, Super Metroid and Metroid Prime, Vampire Masquerade, Left 4 Dead, Xenoblade Chronicles Wii, etc.

Harder than Souls? In FF15, I primarily did monster hunts and dungeons, but mostly hunts for like 70 hours. The dungeons were actually very short and light in content. Zelda games usually  have a lot going on with dungeons, like the meat and potato of zelda games are the dungoens I guess, so how are the dungeons and is the open world fun or empty?

Also, what are like your top 5 games then?

Guys, Girls! What do you all think of Toukiden?

It looks like and plays like a 3D Ys, not so much MH which is what its supposed to be like. With MH the combat is very slow, precise and stamina is precious. You also have to use items, traps, study your prey to be able to capture/hunt it. It's a much slower, hunting-like experience. This Toukiden game is more fast paced and hack-n-slash like Warriors games. You run with a party of NPCs characters instead of little cats or whatever. I recommend the demo on PS4. It's quite good, but I don't think it offers the depth I'd want from a game like this, but it's less "work" than a MH game.

I mean MMOs if you play them as PvE (Player vs Environment), like solo RPGs can be open world type games. I think Star Wars Online, The Secret World and Guild Wars 2 have good stories and they generally have a lot of content/enemies/stuff to do at any given time. I really enjoyed Final Fantasy 15, Xenoblade Chronicles and X on WiiU which were like single player MMOs. I mostly mean Assassins Creed type clones where you have an open map with objectives to take on in any order, but mostly repetative. I would say games like Mad Max or Arkham Knight or Shadow of Mordor. They just feel like work to me. The last open world type game I played was Infamous Son on PS4 and I bounced off really hard after a few hours. I liked the opening and story, like an XMen side story, but then it just got really boring and repetative. I didn't like the shooting parts either. I just prefer more directed type design, like in Metal Gear 5, where each mission was specifically directed, even though it was open world and you could take on different missions at any time. I can't quite put my finger on it? I played the demo for Ghost Recon, which is another open world shooter and I got bored right away. I prefer the last Ghost Recon which was more mission based and directed like an action movie, like Spec Ops the Line.

I stopped buying games on release a while ago. Reviews do little to influence my purchase or enjoyment of a game. I've been going back and replaying games I know I enjoy or games I might have missed in the past. I've played well reviewed games and hated them, so I get Bloodborne for you, although it's one of my favorite games of all time. I'm still playing through Xenoblade Chronicles on WiiU since it seems endless, Guild Wars 2, and replaying DMC series. I'll eventually get to Zelda, Mass Effect and Horizon, but I honestly have never enjoyed open world games so I'm not that interested in playing them. Although there are exceptions, but I'm not exactly sure what it is about certain open world games versus others that I find appealing.

Do you know how long the game is? MH can last forever.

For me Tomb Raider was a new Mario for me, then Resident Evil, then Demon Souls.Guild Wars 2 was like my new Mario for MMOs. These games made me love gaming again like a little kid.

I'm still keeping up with Riverdale. It's a very teen soapy show, but I'm interested in finding out who the murderer actually is.

With Supergirl, at first I was annoyed at how she is a damsel in distress all the time, but I gave her slack because shes using her powers for the first time. The first season was great the way she would get int DragonBall Z fights every week. Cat absense is more noticeable this season and the relationship with Mon-El doesnt make any damned sense although I do like the character as an antagonist for her?  The chauvinest macho vs the feminist. They're like Slater and Jesse Spano all over again. Hopefully Mon-El will get a real costume and stay on because he's growing on me. I'd like to see Kara with Winn actually and I like her being the strong one, like reverse Clark & Louise.

There are only like 6 volumes of Scott Pilgrim, and up to the movie release there were only 4 or 5. I recommend reading them if you love video games. It is one of my all time favorite comics. It's actually more of a manga style hybrid.

I watched Tangerine recently, and I'm not expert enough to tell whether something counts as a valid film or not whether its shot on film or digital-- or iphone. Tangerine has a very voyeuristic camera that kind of looks like citizen journalism, almost like when a random person is capturing a street fight or car accident on their phone. It looks like the extras in the background were actual people just living their lives, making it all feel more authentic. Here is screenshots

I think the Tangerine film had a modified lens specially designed for ipod use. It was a bit controversial because, I think established filmakers in particular, were afraid of a new medium (digital  phones) replacing traditional film and profession, and this iphone movie was like a ghettoization of filmaking or something--a new attitude of taking cheap digital films directly to consumers on their portable devices and cutting out movie theatres entirely. I just remember complaints around this movie being more about the fear/effect of having anyone w/ an iphone potentially becoming directors and changing the film landscape.

Then only musical I care about is Scott Pilgrim, but that's mainly because of video games as source material for the film. Nightmare Before Christmas is a close 1st/2nd place.
