Jamie, I figured most of the old timers from 1up would remember.

Ratchet and Clank would be good.
I don't have a problem with real world events being exploring in science fistions themes as long as it's done well.
Tech issues - I am no help there at all, sorry.
I feel for ya. We bounced back and forth acorss the Atlantic a couple of times and then moved half-way across the country briefly. Each time, my mother ditched a ton of my stuff.
I never thought it was all that back when I played it on my Genesis, and having played it again on whichever compilation disc I have for the 360, it really hasn't held up well.
Try the mid 80s, lol.
Maine hasn't been really been reforested by humans, the forest just takes over again. At one park where I worked, we were putting in a trail in what was a hay field about five years previously. It was at the old-growth field stage of succession, still lots of grasses, but with woody stuff like raspberries, and saplings from aspens and birches starting to take over. That was in 2000. Ten years later, it was all forest and people who didn't know the area previously have no idea that it was a hay field only 20 years before.
Nicely written. I like the simplicity of shoving a disc or cartridge into a console and being able to (theoretically) run with it, but I started out as a PC gamer back in the days of 5.25" floppies, DOS, and monochrome monitors. I'm trying not to clutter up my laptop with games so that I can use the space for my photos and creative writing. I don't always manage to do that, though.
