I survived the Ice Storm of '98. No power for four days and I crashed my truck when I was out getting a hot meal and some drinking water (I live in the boonies and I'm on a well. No electricity means no pump, no pump means no water). I was living in a trailer at the time and there was this huge dying oak tree over my bedroom. I decided that maybe it was time to set up camp in the living room. One of the limbs did come down, but luckily it just made a lot of noise and didn't do any damage. What I remember most was listening to the trees explode - it sounded like someone shooting at crystal chandeliers, first a bang and then the "crash, tinkle, tinkle".
Glad you didn't lose your power. As of last night my friend Dan in West Chester was still without power.
