My friend has a son about that age and they mostly only play the Lego games together. Specifically Star War Legos. They are big fans of tha series and I think you can't die in the game, you just respawn and keep collecting stuff.
Yes. I read about Steamworld Dig and it looks and sounds awesome. I read it might come to PC as well, so I'll try it out then on big screen.

DMC is a stand alone game, in a way, story-wise, it's sort of a prequel to the other games. I think the price should have gone down by now and it's nice and short, so I would recommend trying it if you liked the previous installments, assuming you enjoyed the combo combat.
Etrian Odyssey Untold, is that the re-make of the original for 3DS? I haven't tried it. I enjoyed the series on DS and the last game to appear on DS/3DS. Really good choice!
I love me some AC:NL as well, but it's such a niche genre and I don't know about recommending it to people who don't know about these types of games, collecting-only and no combat or boss battles or whatever. But only good things to say about New Leaf. It's pretty awesome.
It must be Animal Crossing, which is fabulous and a good pick, Pikmin, which I haven't played, or Pokemon XY, which I also here is awesome. I'll wait for end of year to be surprised...

I actually liked some of the wierd shows PS4 gamers were putting up until twitch took ThePlayroom off their front page! Some weird ass stuff, but it was live and anything could happend. Very thrilling.

I have to agree with this. I put up a blog recently about fighting trolls or something that went on for like 3 days. It was mostly because there were a few particular people who were just misinforming the group and it would inflame, even though some would post up facts. It was a random discussion about "casualizing" hard core games for main stream or something like that, especially when it came to MMOs. "Get Out Filthy Casuals" was my blog post I think.
I also watched a recent best games list from Marcus whats-his-name from GameTrailers, or Annoyed Gamer as he's knows, and he left out PC games and Nintendo or portable games for some reason. It was more like don't hate me for my fav game choices, it's what I like and not what you like, So Fuck Off!
