Correct me if I'm mistaken but, isnt all this diversity thing a mea culpa on the part of the Penny Arcade guys for making some rape jokes and offending transgendered people? I remember there being some controversy about this. Some rape jokes in one of their comics or something. This has more to do with damage control than a sincere gesture to welcome "others" to PAX. If they want to diversify their event, then host it in Los Angeles or New York, where there are very divese populations.

Understood. I can't afford to buy every single game on everyones "Best Of" list, so I stick to the games I know.

The game has a bit of animation scenes and voice acting in some parts. It is like a movie, but a game too.

Well you certainly played a lot more new games thatn I did. To be honest, I don't always agree with a lot of reviewers out there. It's typically a game having a good impression on someone that makes me interested in trying it. Your Animal Crossing story is very touching. I'm glad a game was able to give you comfort in a bad time. It's a great choice, and great reason for choosing it as GOTY.

I remember a similar experience with Wind Waker. People thought I was watching a live cartoon. I wish they made more games with this visual style.

The game gets a little hectic towards the end, with all the pets running around, but strangely I found that fun. I also liked traveling back and forth between the fantasy world and real world.

I grew up playing action/platoformers as well, but over time I've moved on to more strategy and online games. I just prefer to customize a party or explore worlds more than beat up all the things. I do like Bayonetta and DMC though.
With portable gaming, you dont have to sit in front of the TV for a long time to finish something any more. You can just reach over and play 3DS/VITA or iPAD for a bit at a time and still get things finished.
