I bought the PS3 version for my kids.  I got it from GameStop.  It was priced at $30.  I was on the fence about getting it.  The store manager told me, she'd sell it to me for $10 if I just took it out of the store.  I couldn't pass up $10. Cool

I own all those games.  Some of them I hadn't played yet.

The Day "teh" Original Xbox died

My XB's time is coming close too.  I repaired it myself a couple times (changed the hard drive and disc tray twice).  It's about 13 yrs old.  I don't play games on it too much.  I had it modded years ago and I usually use it to play video files.  I really hope a realiable alternative is created, so I can continue to play XB games that  don't run on the 360.

I didn't say he didn't have any no social skills.  He's just a bit awkward.  From what I know of him, he has friends and will hang out at a bar or someone's house.  I think he assumes other people want to talk/hear about gaming as much as he does.  Gaming is what he loves and excites him to share.  Sadly, he doesn't seem to notice the "I'm not interesting" cues the other workers will give him from time to time.  I only brought it up because it was about how they saw him and how they used him to support their views of gaming.  It's similar to that old joke that some black people say about rich black men marrying white women.  If anything goes wrong in the rich black man's life, the response is, "He shouldn't of been fucking with them white girls".  As if his partner being not black has anything to do with all his problems.

I have to disagree.  The industry doesn't NEED to change.  It's just not in the position you want it to be.

Those figurines aren't anything new.  They make good money in their own right.  The Japanese always had stuff like that around.  It was in anime and moved into videogames too.  You didn't know it, but it was there before you laid your eyes on your first game.  It's not going anywhere.  The fact that some people don't like them doesn't make them not profitable.  I think that figurine was kind of hot.  For a figurine. Laughing

Also the current direction of the industry is not held up by the NES generation.  It's held up by the XB generation.  Some would argue the PS generation.  There were no Halos, Gears of Wars, God of Wars, and CODs during the NES era.  Videogames are in a strange place.  It's been in this adolecent to adult stage for over a decade.  Keeping in mind the number of years videogames have been around, it's not doing bad.  Developers are doing the things they think they need to do to stay in the game.  It's a bit dumb, but I understand.  Not every developer is like this.  Many of them do take risk.  You'll just have to take the time too find the kind of games you want.

I still need to play those games.  I bought 0 and 1 for the 360.  I'll have to get 2 for the PS3, since it only released on the PS3.

Our culture is so weird.  Gaming is for children, yet it's prefectly accepectable for a grown ass adult to get outraged and cry over a ball game they're sitting on the couch watching.  I don't know if that's funny or sad. Undecided

What is the Difference Between Piracy and Buying Used Games?

I hated philosophy in college.  It can go anywhere and I usually like to keep my arguements focused and somewhat grounded to what I know is real.  Or is it really? Laughing

What is the Difference Between Piracy and Buying Used Games?

Dude, PC stealing is basically software.  Yeah, the average joe couldn't do it, but give them a day and you got a pro.  If they already have a decent PC, they don't even need to buy anything.  You ever thought about how easy it is to put every videogame console from the beginning of time to the N64, PS, SAT, & DC era on to your PC with all the thousands of games included?  All you need is the internet and the right websites and you're set.  Give me 30min and I'll have thousands of games. Laughing

I will admit, digital distribution on pc is awesome.  Damn shame it's the opposite on consoles.  There are games on PSN and XBL that are years old still at retail (or close to it) price.  The physical copies are under $20.  If physical games are fazed out and this expensive digital game shit continues, console gaming is screwed.

The thing is, they want more money from a product I already own.  I seriously don't understand why publishers don't sell more games themselves.  Retailers order games from publishers.  The games we see on the shelves are already paid for.  Retailers know what to order by the number of preorders they receive and they estimate the number of "walk-ins" that come into the store to buy the product.  Publishers make their money off sales and "maybe" sales.  Whether the game sells or not, the publishers still get paid.  Whether the game sells or not,  the developers get paid.  And I seriously doubt many developers get a lot of extra money if the game's a hit.

I agree with you.  I avoided that blog because I try to limit my agruements with my friends. Laughing  I didn't see what the fuss was about.  The character's outfit was trashy and unrealistic, but I still thought it was kind of hot. Embarassed  It's only my opinion, so I didn't feel the need to push it when the majority of people that made comments seemed to not like the chick's design.  It actually didn't think about "shamng me for liking it" angle.  I normally pick up on that, but since Gig is a long time friend, I just didn't notice. Cool

It's true though, gaming is still a "nerd's hobby".  I started a new job a few months ago.  There is a guy I work with that's a gamer (about 35yrs), but he's the "weird, talks about gaming & anime with people that aren't into gaming & anime all the time" type of guy.  It doesn't bother me, because I enjoy gaming & anime, but I understand my other co-workers getting annoyed by it. Undecided  Sadly, they talk about him behind his back and everything that he does that's unusual to them, they say it's because "he's always playing those games".  He lives with his mother... "he's spending all his money on those games".  He doesn't have a girlfriend.... "he's always playing those games".  He's not responsible... "he's in his fantasy world playing those games".  He doesn't have a life.... "he's always on those games".  I make it no secret that I play games too.  A lot.  But they don't jump on me about it.  But, to their defense, the guy is a bit socially arkward.  I try to help them understand that's why he's different and not just he plays videogames.  I had a couple conversations with some of them about gaming being just as normal as the other hobbies out there.  They had little to say in response.  It's probably the reason no one says anything to me about my gaming. Laughing
