Quick Hits: It's Cold In Southern California

The Witcher 2 is great.  I didn't know anything about it when I played it either.  I thought the box art looked neat, so I picked it up.  I left it unopened for months until I ran into a friend that loved it.  The first time I played it, I didn't get into it.  I thought the combat system was too complicated.  I let it sit for a couple weeks and tried again.  I really got into it and the story.  I can't wait to play The Witcher 3.

Retro Game of the Week: Gradius

I hadn't played this game in a long time.  Ever since I found the arcade ports, I hadn't played the NES version.

But Really....

I really didn't like FFVIII.  I put hours into that game and was bored to death. Frown

I hope to get Tomb Raider next year.  I don't know much about the "issues" with the game, but I'll make my own decisions when I play it myself.  I hope I enjoy it.  I hadn't enjoyed a Tomb Raider game since the 1st one.

My best friend is time.  I wait and wait and then wait some more.  I actually picked up Bioshock Infinite (360) from GameStop during a buy 2 get 1 free sale about a month ago.  It was only $19.99, which was a litte more than I wanted to spend for it, but when included with the other games I wanted, I only paid about $35 for 3 games (roughly, $11.70 per physcial game).  $11.70 for a game that I really wanted and was less than a year old.  You just can't get deals like that from digital games on consoles.

I picked up LBP Karting too.  I got it about 3 months ago.  Found it at Target for $9.99.

I only bought 1 game during the black Friday deals.  The prices were still too high for my liking. Laughing

I almost bought Dishonored too off XBL.  I thought it was cheap until I did a little research first and saw a few places that had physical copies cheaper and there was a recent release of a GotY edition.  They almost got me. Cool

The thing that annoys me the most about digital games is that the price doesn't drop fast enough.  On PSN and XBL I'll see on the dashboard 50% off digital games and the prices are only $14.99.  Many of those damn games are over several years old.  I can find most of them at a retail store NEW for less or slightly more than the 50% off digital price.

I think they did it for replay value.  The game isn't long.  It's like River City Ransom or more like the Scott Pilgrim vs the World game.  They are beat'em ups and it's hard to play through them without leveling your character or learning new moves.

PSN has quite a few Neo Geo games.  I picked up P.O.W. this year.

I didn't think Double Dragon Neon was hard.  All you had to do was play the same stages over & over to level up and the game got a lot easier.  A little level grinding went a long way in that game.  Damn shame there's no Double Dragon Neon 2.

I only have the first Metal Slug for my arcade cab.  They ports are close.  If there are any differences, I hadn't noticed them.

What is better than a brand new PS4? (it's Zelda)

I'm playing it now and it's a damn good game.
