My Top 5 and Bottom 2 of E3

Posted on 06/15/2018 at 02:09 PM | Filed Under Blogs

Never said I wasn't looking forward to TLOU2, but I was entirely satisfied with what I got out of the original and while I won't turn down more of it, it doesn't excite me the same way as something that looks as fresh as say Death Stranding. Spider-Man looked great also, but that was the third E3 in a row we saw it, I'm just ready to play at this point.

Sekiro does look great. Would be in my top 5 if not for Activision, but have a couple reservations there. That it's not an RPG is actually a relief because it's easier to monetize those and cram the game full of microtransactions. Not that I think they would anyways, I think this will be more like WB publishing The Witcher games, but still don't trust Activision. DMC5 and Rage 2 also looked really damn fun. Also happy to hear we're getting another Doom and like Gears of War 5's new direction along with that tactics game.

Sometimes the simplest releases are the most exciting...

It might not be quite what you're saying, but the Donkey Kong remake on the Gameboy is in large parts that. Has the original four levels then branches off into all kinds of puzzle platforming levels and gives Mario as many movement options as he does in the 3D games.

BE3,feeling a little let down by Bethesda.

Oh sure, I get preferring third to first person, just saying it seems like this game will be a full RPG in first person rather than a first person shooter with RPG elements.

I thought this was gonna be about Vesperia on PS4/Switch at first (know you're not an Xbox guy). But I'm excited for the original Donkey Kong too, might download it when I get home.

Well I don't think it's fair to accuse Cyberpunk of that considering how a first person perspective is a staple of the WRPG genre. We need to see more of how it's being built, see whether it's more like System Shock or Bioshock.

Bethesda has some cool stuff on the way, but that was a really bad show. I'd have rather just skipped it and be pleasantly surprised at the Prey DLC, Doom sequel, TES VI, and that new IP. Fallout 76 and TES Blade didn't do much for me.

Not sure what Pokemon has to do with this though.

Microsoft E3 Xbox One!

Forza was their only first party offering to show off the X which made it feel worse. Super Lucky's Tale is not a graphic showpiece and Cuphead looks as good as it's gonna get on vanilla XB1. Plus I'll take Horizon over vanilla Forza any day.

Microsoft had a really good E3 showing, their best since 2006 IMO. Cyberpunk, Gears 5/Tactics, Tunic, Sekiro, We Happy Few, DMC5 and the Cuphead DLC all look like a lot of fun. Excited to also see what's next from Halo and their new studios.

Wii games I'd love to see remade on Switch

I want Wii games mostly because of how good they'd look in HD, feel Kirby's Epic Yarn and Wario Shake it in particular would look great. Skyward Sword and Mario I'm in for too just to axe the motion controls and use the right stick instead.

3DS games I want to see remade on the Switch

I'd actually rather they put the 3DS version of MGS3 on Switch since it had 4's control scheme. Kid Icarus would be great too with analog or gyro controls, but a sequel that allows more options on foot might be better.
