I actually found the gameplay in Alan Wake tedious and dull. I would have much preferred a story driven game like Deadly Premonition or those Walking Dead TellTale games. I only got upto to second stage in Alan Wake and I don't think I'm going to finish it.
One issue I am having with 15 is that a dev stated that the game would be nerfed for casuals and it's designed to be beaten with the use of a single button. I don't know what that means? I'm scared. Very scared!

There's a new Silent Hill comic out called Downpour. I assume it's based off the game of the same name. I haven't played SH 4, 5 or 6 so I feel like reading these might spoil things. To me, it seems like Silent Hill 3 tied up all the loose ends of the series and actually exposed too much, so much that new games don't really add much to the lore-- for me anyway. Setting any game away from Silent Hill seems like a bad idea. Have you seen this new comic I'm talking about?
I want to say Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii). Although I still have my Atari, NES and cartridges still lying around so those might count as well.
Code Veronica is still made in the same style as the original RE games on PSOne. It is probably the longest of the first four games before making the jump to over the shoulder action shooter of 4,5,6.
I was listening to a gaming podcast recently hosted by former gamesradar reviewers and they were discussing their old game reviews and sure enough they admit that they considered what the readers opinions would be of them when they reviewed a gamed so they may have bumped up the score to avoid trolls and hate. Or they gave games scores they felt the readers would expect. That magic "8" score that all the things get.
I pretty much stick to reviewer that have the same taste as mine. Games can have flaws and still be good, or have low scores and still be fun to play.
I'm playing through REmake on Gamecube right now. The problem with current survival/horror games is that the survival and horror have been seperated. Horror type games are more action oriented and survival games have become primarily atmospheric and limited inventory--DayZ comes to mind. REvelations is cool but it's in the action type style like RE4,5,6. You should try Code Veronica some time. It is pretty tough, but if you haven't tried it, it's worth a visit.
Being chased around by that dude with a chainsaw in RE4 was pretty terrifying. Also the whole village chasing you in RE4 was pretty terrifying.
