Insomia Sucks

We're in the same boat on the weight loss, I've been stagnant, but at least I'm stagnating at a decent weight. lol

I think your vampire theory makes sense. lol

METAL MONDAY!

Posted on 03/25/2013 at 07:22 PM | Filed Under Blogs

Loved the video for "We've got a situation," looks like Ian, Posehn and everyone had a good time. I did a "painting with light" picture in college that was basically the same concept as those guitars having magic powers. lol I think I posted it on one of my blogs on here.

Can't go wrong with AC/DC. I prefer the rasp in the original, but it's a good cover.

As far as the three songs after that, I tend to respect that style more than I like it. I definitely appreciate the musicianship, in particular the drumming, but the vocals aren't my thing. I can tell those bands are better musicians than myself and great at what they do, though. Only death band I've ever really gotten into is BDM, with a couple tracks here and there from Arisis and Terrorizer.

I both like and appreciate power metal vocals though, so dug the Highlord track.Haven't heard from Finntroll since I reviewed them quite some time ago for gamesmeetmetal.com, and I think someone corrected me they aren't actually Finnish?

Great picks today!

Violence In Videogames: War Of Words Goes On

In fairness, he did say correlated, which does not necessarily imply causation ... until he used the lung cancer comparison, which is a correlation we might as well call causation at this point (I certainly don't think you can argue smoking has a positive effect on your lungs), and is not at all the same thing... yeah, he's a bullshitter. I do think violent media can influence violent behavior, but not to the extent we're being told. Too many other x factors exist to make that claim.

I prefer Interpol to Snow Patrol for my indie rock that uses only a couple chords and/or notes on any given song, but that was a nice song nonetheless, I certainly enjoyed it a thousand times more than "Chasing Cars." I'm just jealous because I always find myself playing lead which isn't as conducive to songwriting as a whole. I have a bunch of lyrics and rythms I can't put together. lol What you posted was a really good live performance, though, I might give this band another chance.

I forget what songs I've heard by Band of Horses, but definitely heard them before. I don't know when this song was recorded, but it takes me right back to the 90s, as it sounds like an alternative track from that decade. Seems like an easy going music kind of day for you; I can dig it, nice song picks.

As has been said, that's a lot of cartridge for that little chip! I guess that's why Nintendo was ok producing Gamecube boxes for those tiny discs. lol

Those pins really looked shiny once you were done with them. Nice! I know I commented last time about blowing on them, and for the temporary purposes we needed to do that for, it worked, but this is definitely a much better and more permanent solution.

They do WHAT?! Well, then...

I have some anxiety as well, but it's not nearly as bad since I left college and stopped working with Residence Life.Insomnia's been easier to manage, too.

I love water, so I've been successful in my soft drink ban. I do cheat every once in a while for root beer, though.

I prefer Coke to Pepsi, let's fight! Kidding. lol Thanks for the comment.

NCAA Tournament, What I'm Playing, And Pickups!

Posted on 03/25/2013 at 06:17 PM | Filed Under Blogs

I know what you mean about not whining about getting into the tourney. I'm proud of my alma mater for getting into the first round of NCAA a couple years when I was there, and keeping Stanford to within 1 at NIT this year.Still, that stung. lol

I had Flow Free a while ago on my phone, some time in the fall of last year I think, but had to get rid of it for space. My mom has it on her iPad and is obsessed. lol It does start out easy, but then some of that stuff can get mind boggling at the higher levels.

Nice Lego pickups, especially the Avengers Jet.

I didn't really like his songs on SNL the other week when he performed. I thought I would, cause I like big band, but it just didn't click with me. I like CDs with a lot of 8 minute songs on them, but your music needs to fit the format of something that has the right to be that long. Pop mixed with big band, while I'm not going to say it can't be, typically doesn't lend itself to that time frame the same way say an older Metallica song might.

I have no idea who Kacey Musgraves is, but according to my friends who like country, it's not hard to be more country than Taylor Swift. lol

Pretty much the same here, my older brother had it on SNES, mom had it in the lab at school, and in both cases I sucked at it. lol I too wonder how I'd be now.

Ah, so is that why the "real" fans cry foul? I might just give them the finger and rasberries myself. lol

- I've been meaning to take my civil service test and see if I can't get a government job if I find I need a larger income.Perhaps I'll apply for typist.

- I see you've already posted 22 and 23. I'll go read those.

- Yeah, medication can really screw with it. I'm hoping some of my stubborn weight is muscle from the weightlifting. I too would like a balance, don't want to get too skinny either.

- I love it, just need to have more of it.

- I watch a lot of music videos as well.

- I hear you, I think in many cases, all it does it provide people useless conversation ammo at the "water cooler," but I like to know what's generally going on. I try to just get the headlines at least then research on my own; unfortunately, certain news outlets are unavoidable in this house...

- Yeah, I'm always cooped up here with my parents, who I love, but I need human interaction outside of just them and work. Of course, my coworkers are cool enough I'd grab a beer with them, but still. Music is a great way to meet people.

- I still have the patience, I just feel like I'd gain more from non-fiction. Poetry and plays are good reads, too.

- If you haven't gotten into it, quite possibly you won't. I'd say by this time it's perfectly fair to say you don't like something, but hey, if you think it'll pan out, go for it.

- I can't really tolerate it, either, even as a kid...

- Butterscotch is good, too.

- I think you're great at self-improvement when it comes to what you seem to love, which is music. I've always liked or at least appreciated your stuff. The key to dieting and exercise is really just consistency, and you know how to be consistent; just pick an easy goal starting out and stick to it. Weight loss apps can help, at least in my case.
