Guacamelee, Batman and the death of an iPod

Posted on 05/04/2013 at 12:20 PM | Filed Under Blogs

If only I could have an iPod at the places I worked the late-night shift ... I took that dive straight into insanity. lol

Hope it's just the battery, though, that sucks to hear.

Retro Game of the Week: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

Yeah, I replayed it recently, and both my nostalgic and recent experiences were very positive and similar to yours. Very short and easy, but enjoyable while it lasts.

Confessional: I don't like zombies.

I don't care about zombies either, but I can't complain, because superheroes are getting milked to high heaven as well, have been for at least the past decade, and I eat it up just as much as zombie fans eat up their tropes and whatnot.

Honestly, if you're talking about 90s nostalgia, which is all over the internet ... I'm kind of from the exact generation that makes that so pervasive, and don't really mind it, though it has gotten very stale.

So I'll just thank you for the Troll 2 reference and leave you with this hilarious (I thought) Youtube clip, and maybe come back tomorrow with a more intellectual reason I agree with you on zombies, but like the arguably stale genre I do enjoy. Maybe.

One of the specific details I was thinking of was who gave her the Mockingjay pendant in the books, not what I think you're thinking of, though neither were necessarily plot essential. Also, some diminishing of the violence made certain scenes less emotionally impactful for me. There were a few other changes, but I can't remember, and don't really care to, the movie was about as accurate as one could hope (hell, they even did a decent job of implying things like what the dogs were and why her mom was seemingly mute, if they never outright said it; or apparently they did, cause my ex gf who never read the book caught on quick), so meh.

As for Kick-Ass and Watchmen, I see the comparison, but I enjoyed Watchmen on a much more cerebral and emotional level, whereas Kick-Ass to me was just really good entertainment. Of course, I actually read Watchmen before seeing the movie, so that helped.

I don't really have a reference point for what you're talking about with old anime, since I'm a n00b when it comes to it (I'm one of those people that's only really gotten in Cowboy Bebop, FMA, maybe a couple Miyazaki films), but I was really into Power Rangers as a kid, so I understand the appeal of giant monsters/robots fighting. I'm certainly not doubting Pacific Rim will be great, just wondering if I'll love it as much as everyone else probably will.

Update 5/3/13

Woo Vegas! I wish I was working as much as you, I could certainly use the money. I mean, I know what it's like to be overworked, and it sucks, but it's a lot better than my current situation.

Nice pick-ups, though.

Damn You Sunshine!

My computer is so old it shuts down just from being in my lap too long. That's right, ladies. I have a hot crotch.

Yeah, the only liberties they took with the first one were a few key details (a couple did bother me, but not so much I didn't like it, I know they have to copmpromise), and just looking at it outside Katniss's perspective, which I think was a really good creative decision.

I've seen the trailers for Kick-Ass 2 and Pacific Rim already; honestly, if there's a new one, I want to avoid spoilers. Kick-Ass was my favorite movie of 2010, definitely looking forward to Carey's performance, but Pacific Rim I'll wait and see. I know that has a lot of people excited, but it's not exactly my type of movie. If it gets good reviews (and probably will, since Del Torro is directing), I'll see it.

Metal Saga is Hilarios and a great game ( 4.5 out of 5 )

MC Hammer and Kurt Cobain parodies? Dated, but they'd make me laugh. Laughing Sounds good.

05.03.13> TEAM HUNT> TEAM KILL> SER'S WEEKLY BIT

Very sweet deal, glad you got it replaced. Now, who's selling a working Jaguar car for that price? No one? Well, if they were, I probably shouldn't trust the car's condition anyway. Damn. Now I'm sad. Ser, you inadvertently made me sad for a very stupid reason. How dare you.

It's hard out there for a pimp!

Kinda surprised I'm the first one to post this. I know it's not funk/70s, but it IS exactly your blog title. lol

And Three Six Mafia would never be heard from again ... (I don't think that's true, but I certainly have not heard their name in a while). lol
