Gaming Has Gone To Hell Vol. 1

Posted on 02/20/2015 at 07:11 PM | Filed Under Blogs

Pokemon Shuffle is basically Puzzle Quest, or more accurately Puzzle n' Dragons on mobile which is super popular. The game isn't revolutionary or new, it's just a skinned version of PnD and it limits your amount of gameplay with a timer, which is fine if you just want to play a bit each day, but the game is built around leveling pokemon and grinding and you see the problem. Imagin play a regular Pokemon game where you had to level your pokemon by grinding, except you could only play battles with a limited amount of turns unless you spend real currency to buy more turns.

Nintendo said they wouldn't do this. But yeah, its a bad design for games IMO.

This series isn't just bitching for the sake of bitching. These news items are reflecting symptoms that hurt games and game development. Nintendos Pay To Win game is a bad idea for its console. Order 1886 might be longer than the outraged first believed, but from reviews it is a very 'last gen' game which is cause for worry on new gen systems, and KickStarter doesn't always have successful outcomes, watchout for deceivers. These  topics should be of interest and to gaming enthusiasts especially.

God, armor sets in MH. I remember doing those grinds in MH3U. Those were the days.

Well, I don't want these things to get fixed. I want to turn this into a bi-weekly series and fixing all the game things would ruin it for me. I'll eventually play Order1886. I actually don't care about length all that much. I much prefer the short game nowadays and RE Remake is a short game and one of my all time favs. As for Peter Molyneux and Rock Paper Shotgun, you have to use a filter for RPS because they are British I believe and they tend to be more brutal with their media, and Peter Molyneux used Kickstarter to build hype for a game to get a partner, not necessarily to use that donated money to complete a game, but he made it seem like that was the case, so he is in the wrong, jerky interview or not.

I've since gone back and replayed through that area and the save station was right in my face. A testament to the games interesting stage layouts. Clever girl!

I wouldn't have died either if I hadn't been playing for so long and got lazy with the combat. It's an area where enemies show up everywhere and requires specific colored ammo to kill. I got lazy shifting ammo, and then suddenly Samus let out a scream before a heroic death. ;_;

Normally I would agree with you but the thing about this game in particular is that the first episode is very slow. Someone left a comment on here about not being impressed by the demo, and I had to finish the game and kind of look at the whole thing to enjoy it. If the entire game is made of slow moving parts I'd probably change my mind and hate it, but because it's just starting out I'm giving it the benefit of doubt for now. There's a missing dead girl in the game and a weird nightmare world like Silent Hill involved so that's enough of a carrot for me.

One of the things I appreciated about the game is that it's a new IP. I wasn't sure what to expect as I was playing.

Those dogs that jump in the narrow hallway in Resident Evil 1. All you have to do is dodge them. It's more of a jump scare, but it still gets me.

Vita: The First Zombie System?

It has more to do with Japan. Japanese aren't buying consoles anymore, not the way they used to and instead are playing games on their smartphones, which is the same problem the gaming industry has in the West. thus no portable support from East or West. Sonys main competition in Japan is Nintendo and the VITA is the only real way they can compete with 3DS and stay relevent in the gaming scene. I think Japan has been getting more game releases that aren't published here in the U.S., so it's more popular over there than it is here.  It's a great piece of hardware and it's a really great way to play indie games, cross-buy games and classic games. Basically, if you're a gamer and want a glorious portable experience with button and directional pad controls buy a VITA.
