I've considered picking this one up, but I'm mostly playing Banner Saga on my iPad now. Maybe once that is done, I'll check this out!

I've never really been that interested in crafting games, whether it was Minecraft, Terraria, Junk Jack X, or whatever. But I decided to give Crashlands a try because it was supposed to have a strong RPG feel, the early buzz about the game was really good, and it has a great story about why it even exists. So far that has been a good decision! Crashlands streamlines a lot of the complaints I hear about crafting games. All the tools are contextual—if you tap on a bad guy, you'll attack with your sword; if you tap a tree, you'll cut it down with your axe; etc.—so you don't spend a lot of time in menus equipping the right thing for the moment. You can track quests AND crafting recipes, so you always know what you're doing. You can instantly teleport back to your ship or any other telepads you find in the world, so you'll rarely spend time wandering around if you're not exploring.
I'm not very far into the game but so far it's been a lot of fun. I've advanced the story a little bit but mostly I've just wandered around collecting resources and making things. The game has a goofy sense of humor, too, that has kept a big dumb grin on my face the whole time. I'd definitely suggest giving it a try. It's also on Steam! And you can upload your save to the cloud to continue on a different device. Pretty cool.
